Serena Williams Crashes A Random Tennis Match In San Francisco

Without doubt, Serena Williams is a legend of the modern tennis game. With 39 titles to her name, including a record-breaking 23 Grand Slams (the most in the Open era), she’s held the world number one ranking for a total of 314 weeks since first rising to number one in 2002.

It’s only a matter of time before the 35-year-old is recognised as the greatest female player of all time. Rising to the top of the tennis rankings must require a great deal of training and dedication, but when she’s not dominating women’s tennis, what does Serena Williams do in her down time? Apparently, the answer is “more tennis”.

Last night, Serena was taking a romantic walk with her fiancé Alexis Ohanian and their dog Chip around the Mission District of San Francisco, California. It was then that the couple walked to a public tennis court at Dolores Park, and Serena came across a casual tennis match between two random guys.

For Serena, it must be weird to come across a non-competitive match, but instead of chuckling to herself and going about her evening, she decided to give these two guys the surprise of a lifetime. Alexis Ohanian manned the camera and recorded Serena on Snapchat as she approaches the two guys.

Imagine just having a random tennis rally with your buddy when one of the greatest players playing today offers to give you a game. How crazy would that be? Of course, Serena wasn’t quite kitted out in the correct gear, but she laced up a pair of fluffy boots, handed Chip to Alexis for safekeeping, before beginning the customary trash talk ahead of the match.

We don’t get to see the actual tennis game get underway, but I’m pretty confident in saying Serena held off the challenge of her opponent, and she very kindly provided the two strangers with a selfie, just in case nobody believed them.

Although the casual game probably didn’t present much of a challenge to Miss Williams, it still goes towards Serena’s training as she aims to win her 40th Grand Slam Title at the French Open later on this year. Serena Williams has already won the Australian Open in 2017, beating her sister Venus Williams 6-4 6-4, and this year will present another opportunity to join the exclusive group of tennis players to win all four Grand Slams in a calendar year.
